Charles R. Swindoll has devoted his life to the clear, practical teaching and application of God's Word. This is a very powerful book. Charles Swindoll tells the entire story of David, the king of Israel in the Bible. David was known as the man of God but he was also a sinner. The author shows how we can learn today about David's mistakes to help us when we are in trouble. By using these lessons you can't help but improve your walk with God and grow closer to Him.

There is so much more to David

It's likely most people would think of David as the boy who killed Goliath, or his affair with Bathsheba. There is so much more to this man: leadership, innovative military tactics, an over-achiever, intensely loyal, the significant consequences of his affair... and so much more.
Understanding the context of David's life provides an eye-opening gateway to understanding the Psalms he wrote, political impact that continues to this day. A great book to read, and a great gift.

My parents named me "David" so I wanted to learn more about the life of the one God chose who was named David. It was a great book; good reading and well organized. Lots of scripture was used to describe David's life. I will probably buy some more in Chuck Swindoll's Bible character series.

Tell Monsanto and toxic GMO'S No.

I like this book because the American public needs to be made aware of the wreckless way in which the food industry operates.We have the right to know what we are eating. And GMO foods should be labled as such. There is no way of knowing the long term effects of consumeing these foods. I no londer eat corn, flour, pasta, cereals, or any fruits or vegetables that I know are GMO.

Good Information, but came off very biased.

Although I am very against GMOs, I was slightly put off by the tone of this book. It provided good information that summarized the history and danger of genetically modified organisms, but could have been written better to present the facts without slanting the reader. I would still recommend to others.

Every American should read this since GMO's are in 70% of processed foods and drinks in this country. They have been in things Americans eat and drink since 1996,despite the fact there have never been any longterm independent safety studies done on their health effects on animals or humans! In a long term study of rats fed GMO's in France the rats fed them had much higher rates of cancer, organ damage and infertility than the control group.

A wonderful book, and a great help.

I wish I could give this book more than five stars. I have made lots of furniture mistakes over the years, and now I can begin to see why. The next best thing to this book would be having Leonard Lewin by your side when you shop for furniture! He takes you through the basics (wood, wood veneer, wood finishing, shopping for wood, basic furniture construction and pieces, upholstery, leather, personal style, going to stores, dealing with sales personnel and designers, interpreting advertising). What's more, he lists brands and stores to think about and visit, by area, name and volume). This book will be extremely useful to me, and I plan to reread several of the chapters before buying any furniture. The tone of the book is easygoing and informative, never dull. Most of all, his philosophy that while being an expert helps, all of us can do enough homework to understand what we need to bring to the furniture buying experience. I highly recommend this book, and plan to go back to it in the future (maybe even keep it in the car, since I wouldn't be able to hide it in the store).

Good Guide for the uninitiated

I knew nothing about the details of furniture construction before I read this book. I now feel confident in shopping for all types of furniture. I can now look for signs of quality construction and ask the right questions to let the salepeople know I'm not willing to buy just on looks. The details of how certain pieces are made is important for longevity. Highly recommended read!
