Read the Sample before Buying
By M. Hartwell
I hate to be the one to put a downer on the 5-star reviews here and I can see from the author's bio that she is excited to have her first book published and to have achieved something she wasn't sure was possible. However, admirable as that may be, I also feel it's important to give an honest and realistic review so that other potential readers know what they are getting.
Unfortunately, it is very clear that English is not the author's first language and this book reads like it has been written in another language and then put through Google translate or, alternatively, has been entrusted to a really poor translator. The story itself is a soap opera ride of epic proportions with non-stop drama, accusations, revelations, "evil" behavior and unbelievable coincidences.
If you are swayed by the 5-star reviews I highly recommend you read the sample before buying so you know what you are letting yourself in for as this is very difficult to read in it's current state.

1.5 stars - Predictable and cliched
By Luscious Librarian
THERE MAY BE SPOILERS BELOW
Lazy is my middle name which is why I rarely leave any reviews unless a book is very good or very....not good. Let's start with what I liked -
1. When the plots and sub plots are revealed, the H asks the h to take him back. This is one of the few books where the h says that love also demands faith and trust which the H didn't give her. And she doesn't think she can forgive him. She makes him work for 3 months (I didn't think this was enough given that when he kicked her out, he even took HER money from her) before she finally forgives him. And that was the sole reason why this book got its extra half star rating from me. Ammy won't allow a half star but that's what it really is.
2. Although the author is very young, she did show an understanding of emotions, in the sense that she knew what plot twists would tug on our sympathies.
That's a short list so lets move to what was not good about the book:
1. The language - Just as we would have no sympathy for a carpenter who used blunt, broken tools to craft a wobbly and crooked chair for sale, I rarely have sympathy for authors who publish books with bad writing. As a writer, your words are your tool. And if I'm paying for your book, I expect at least competent writing at the very minimum. Unfortunately, this was not the case here. English is not this author's first language and it shows. At one point, when the H is discussing the h's alleged infidelity, he actually calls her an 'infidel'. But more than the jarring incorrectly used, poorly translated phrases, I found the writing style also needed work. Plot points did not tie in well with each other and somehow seemed uncomfortable.
2. Formatting - Paragraphs were all over the place and made the writing even harder to read!
3. Cliches - Nearly every cliche that could be employed, was. From murder plots to dead babies to an OM who has his own baggage etc., everything found its way into this book, a lot of it was unbelievable. Even the h has a hard time believing the two villains did what they did to 'save her life' and, given that one of them slept with her husband right in front of her, I was unable to understand how they suddenly became 'victims'. There were large gaping loopholes in the plot which is where I believe the author would benefit from a good editor and some honest beta readers.
4. The plot resolution was predictable and read like a bad soap script
I paid $3+ dollars for this book and I'm not happy about it.

I am an avid reader. When I write a review, I provide a honest, well-informed one. I based my decision on originality, character development, flow, technique and grammar. For originality, the book was like a terrible soap opera and riddled with too many clichs. For character development, there wasn't one. I was unable to receive clear description of any of the characters. Clothes, hair, height, race, structure, eyes and lips were all missing. For flow, the rhythm was terribly off. Sequence of events, word flow and point of views were all over the place. First person point of view should only be reserved for one or possibly two protagonists, not several. Too much repetition, choppy sentences and stilted writing. And the dialogues were too long. For technique, there were too many adjectives, adverbs and passive words that took away from the storyline and prevented me from receiving a full visual. For Grammer, any editor worth their salt would have shredded this book apart. I'm sorry kid, you didn't hit this one out of the ballpark. Having a great imagination is not enough, if you are unable to write about it. Go to school, take more creative writing courses and gain experience then try your hand at writing.
