OK, but not Great!

I taught social studies for two years before taking the class that required me to read this book, so I was looking forward to learning more, but this book did not help with that. The book was very dry and boring. Also, it talked about the things to teach without giving good examples of HOW to teach it. I would not recommend this book to anyone who is looking for help with teaching social studies.

This is a super text for implementation into a social studies methods course.

Sunal and Haas' updated text is comprehensive and applicable for teachers of young and middle social studies learners in elementary school. The lesson examples are from local teachers and are tried and true. There is no other text that I would rather utilized in my graduate social studies methods course.

Great book horribly made!

The book is just what I expected, heavy and too much info. The supplemental info is far better. I love the online material..that is worth the book in GOLD! My teachers have found discrepancies within the book.

Update: this book has literally fallen to pieces! I'm disgusted at how cheap the material is. I've used it for 2 semesters and literally they should be ashamed of themselves for this cheap material. I can't believe this book for $150!!!! Unreal! My entire class has had to tape it back together!

I will look for a better one.

When I was in nursing school the first time back in 2000-2002, we had an earlier version of this book. The earlier version was a lot easier to read than this one. This one is very big and heavy. Was obscenely expensive. The text print is too small. They have made the pages way too busy with boxes and other stuff. You add all that together and it makes a miserable textbook. I would return it right now if I didn't have more chapters to read for the RNR program I am in. Needless to say, I will definitely NOT be keeping this book for future reference. I will look for a better one.

Balenciaga and His Legacy

This is a terrific book showing a wide array of the Master's beautiful creations.
The book is very well made and lavishly illustrated with stunning color and b/w photos. The photos show the garments both in their present condition along with archival clear shots showing the pieces worn by their respective owners or models, thus, giving them more visual context.
The book is divided into chapters detailing how the house of Balenciaga evolved as well as explaining the sources of inspiration especially the Spanish ones and their contribution to the art of Balenciaga.
The text is highly informative and easy to follow. This is a highly recommended book to Balenciaga fans and fashion enthusiasts in general, also it makes a great coffee-table book.

I purchased this book as a Christmas gift for my daughter who is a head fashion designer for a small, specialty denim house in NYC. She loved the book. She says that the photos are outstanding (that the fashions shown in the photos are outstanding goes without saying) and the narrative is interesting and enlightening.

A great acquisition for someone new to the industry or just for a fashionista to use as a coffee table book.

The pictures are stunning and cover a range of designs. What surprised me was how much I enjoyed reading about a woman who collected the textile art of Balenciaga and the history of Neiman Marcus. The author included pictures of Balenciaga creations being worn by their owner. Somehow that added a special touch and made this more than a collection of photographs of elegant clothing. I look forward to enjoying this book for many years.

The Biology and Medicine of Rabbits and Rodents

The purpose is to provide lab professionals with the advice on the maintenance of rabbits and rodents, concerning their care and health. It covers rabbit, guinea pig, hamster, gerbil, mouse and rat. Even though it is intended for *experts*, the book is relatively easy to read and is very thorough starting with the general husbandry and biology, followed by clinical procedures, sign of disease, diagnoses and listing specific diseases and conditions from A-Z. It lists the hosts for the disease, etiology, transmission, predisposing factors, clinical signs, necropsy signs, diagnosis, prevention, effect on research and public health significance. The last chapter has self test with case reports.
Even though this is not an *exotic pet rodent* book, it is a great reference book for any rabbit or rodent pet owner, since most diseases occur in pets as well as in laboratory animals. A nice middle ground between serious technical veterinary books and the common photo pet shop books.
