Get Down to Business Bible Study

Blackaby uses a new approach to an old question. How do I get my life in the shape it needs to be for God to use me? Starting small, the book slowly takes you from what ever level that you are at to the place God wants you to be. Stressing the importence of you fellowship with God is the main thrust of the book. No one who truely involves themselves in what is written here will leave it the same as they were before. Thank God for men like Blackaby who use their gifts to help His people.

It seems like a solid plan, but life back in good ‘ole predictable 1996 is not exactly as G remembers. Was his dads nose always so big? Was his distant mother ever really that attentive or happy? G is doubting everything he sees as his plans to alter the future unravel.
When the strange man that G recognizes from the bus accident suddenly shows up and helps him out of a jam, G is sure he’s found a new ally, but then he’s never been a very good judge of character.

There is a Force Out of This World That Moves Gerry Forward

Gerry Springer is in his 30’s, about to get kicked out of his apartment, rides the bus every day because he can’t afford to fix his BMW, and works at a convenience store. His dreams of making music have been gathering dust for years and all he wants to do is get by, make sure his dad can comfortably live out his days at the retirement home, keep his girlfriend Abi happy and with him, pay his rent on time, work down his bills and debt, and fix his car that has been sitting in the garage for months.

Everything goes wrong for G, but then everything seems to be on an upswing, and then the bus he’s riding gets hit and there is no way he would have survived. Waking up in the hospital, G goes through a lengthy period of disorientation where everything from the date to the lack of GPS has him reeling. Is this a dream in a coma induced by the accident or has he been transported to 1996, the year his baby sister was killed in a car accident?

A.R. Rivera has a knack for writing characters and stories about tragic and luckless individuals just struggling to get by day by day when something out of this world or unusual happens to them (makes for a good story). The level of detail of their day to day lives is amazing and really sets the reader into the story with the characters.

At first you think Gerry’s a jerk who can only make bad decisions, but when push comes to shove he thinks of -almost- nothing else than others and of saving his baby sister. Day to day he may be without motivation, but really that’s only because of his lack of opportunity and having to be responsible, or at least to try to be. Gerry shines when he has purpose in his life, but when he lacks direction his personality in the being a good person department is also lacking. He is a fascinating character to watch bomb personal relationships and to watch making hard decisions, like keep the car or the apartment and keep his girlfriend happy or follow his aging father’s final wishes?

Why does Abi, his girlfriend, love Gerry? What is her part in this relationship? It somewhat bothered me how G treats his girlfriend and how he’s always putting her last even in his thoughts unless she’s being abnormally loving and doing something huge for him. She gives and gives and he takes and takes and their relationship is grating, even bordering on abusive?

very engaging read

Inertia isn’t like anything I have read before. I don’t read a lot of science fiction but after previewing this read, I decided to give it a try. That being said, I was easily drawn into the unique story line that seriously messed with my head and left me wanting the next installment of the Threestone Trilogy. This book is long but kept me going from page one because there is so much going on. At times, I had difficulty trying to grasp it all, but Rivera described things in such a way that I was able to follow.

Gerry Springer isn’t living the easiest life. His character struggles with so many ups and downs, particularly the loss of his sister many years before. His love for her is genuinely conveyed, but I am thrown by how poorly he treats his girlfriend.

I can’t even begin to sum up this plot without writing another book. Time travel, tragedy, mystery and dark forces unite to make this a very intriguing read. Having the ability to go back in time, given everything we have learned, to change an event, is a dream most people couldn’t possibly fathom. This book poses the question ‘what if’, and then takes you on a wild ride, leaving you sorrowful and yearning for more.

Every character had depth and were extremely well-written, as was the entire book. I can’t not give this book a five star rating.

There’s nothing remarkable about Gerry Springer, who’s been shuffling through life since failing to prevent his little sister’s death when he was a teenager. He has an aging father in a nursing home and a loving girlfriend he takes for granted, but all he cares about is his car.
Then one ordinary day on the bus turns into a mind-bending time warp when a bizarre looking stranger gets onboard and a disaster takes place. Gerry is inexplicably sent back to 1996, and although he's at a loss as to what’s going on, he can’t resist taking what he thinks is an opportunity to change the past.
Gerry fails again, but before he has a chance to think about what that means, a madman takes him under his wing–the same lunatic from the bus. Little does Gerry know, the man, Daemon, is not there to help him. Daemon is there to find the three mysterious stones Gerry’s father was trying to tell him about before his violent death.
Inertia is a skillfully written, complex story that makes the reader feel as if they’re riding a roller coaster blindfolded. The characters are vibrant and likable despite their faults, and the plot unfolds like an action-packed movie. I can’t wait to see how it all comes together in the rest of the trilogy. Will Gerry step up to be a hero?

Hello world , I just want to say that if you've enjoyed the " Justice League " animated television series and want to learn how to draw your favorite character from the DC Universe then this book should be added to your library collection !!!

However , not to put this book down but I must confess that this book could have added some more things to make it even better , for example : Turnaround Sheets , Character Attitudes , Facial Expressions. The step - by - step drawing examples that are given in this book are very basic at best , all characters in this book get one pose each which you get a five step breakdown on how to draw them.

Oh and here's a great tip for all of you out there , if you’re interested in collecting the entire set of this book series and I do mean :

An excellent book for Physics Majors

This is my absolute favorite introductory Physics textbook. It gives historical background, literary quotes and discussions of underlying philosophy. It uses calculus and real vector notation from the outset. Many other textbooks introduce vector notation, but don't really use it to solve problems). This book is unapologetic in its use of reasonably sophisticated mathematics. Finally, it's just a joy to read. I've been doing physics for thirty years and I learned a few things from it.

However, this is not a book based on the latest pedagogical trend. It is a book for students who will pursue physics, and as such it gives an excellent grounding in the topic. I would not use it for a course aimed at engineers, since it goes well beyond simple problem solving skills and endeavors to actually teach students to think like a physicist.

The problems are original and entertaining. Each chapter ends with a superb set of references for further reading and suggested experiments.

The latest Halliday and Resnick, Serway, or Young and Freedman are (in my opinion) ugly books with short, choppy sections that water down the material. Reese's book is for more interesting and even inspiring. I find these qualities essential in teaching Physics majors.

A review of the textbook:
As other reviews have noted, this book is excellent for the self-motivated learner who wants the subject to be taught thoroughly. The authors have made sure to explain their notation and mathematics so that the reader learns to solve physics from the identification and derivation of basic principles, not just the application of memorized formulas.

Many years ago, I took high school physics and two semesters of rigorous introductory physics for engineers and a(n) (un)healthy dose of calculus and linear algebra which may have made me more comfortable with the concepts in this book, but I was able to re-learn from this book without ever opening up a math book or even wikipedia. I think a self-learner who doesn't have that math background would still do just fine with this book (especially if they had a basic calculus book) as the authors are very explicit about showing their work and identifying the methods they use.

Pros:
Teaches necessary problem solving skills and not just formulas to memorize
The mathematical methods, concepts and notations are thoroughly explained, and the sample problems feature clear, step-by-step demonstrations of the mathematical approach
Shows multiple ways of solving problems and uses many examples to highlight how probem solving techniques can be modified to accomodate different scenarios
Highlights connections between different concepts (ie kinematics, newtonian mechanics, work-energy theory, impulse and momentum) and highlight their strengths and limitations
Provides numerous practice problems for each chapter, and a concise chapter summary
Provides historical dimension of the discipline and the larger framework/questions
Has lots of pictures and diagrams that are generally well-constructed to facilitate visual learning

Cons:
There are some minor formatting issues (words cut off) and images are 'cheesy'
Older layout lacks the user-friendly layout features found in more modern textbooks (e.g. a glossary, chapter content maps, sidebars, concept diagrams etc)
There are answers (not solutions) provided to only every other odd numbered question in the back of the book, and a "solutions manual" (SOLD SEPARATELY) only show the detailed solutions to these same problems. So 3/4 of the problems don't have answers or detailed solutions available.

Note that Volume 1 only covers chapters 1-15 (Kinematics-Thermodynamics) and the rest of the material for an introductory physics course is in volume 2. I have no idea if the infotrac works as I haven't tried to use it.

This book fills a need for an applied sport psychology book based on credible, published research. A deliberate attempt is made to base application on theory while avoiding scientific and statistical jargon so readers at various levels of education, past experience, and expertise can feel comfortable with the book's content. Sport examples from media publications and from the author's own experiences as a sport psychologist nurture the connection between the professional literature and real-life sport experiences. The opening chapter explains the field of sport psychology, which also encompasses the related field of exercise psychology. Chapter 4 focuses on how coaches and athletes interpret and explain the causes of contest results, and how that plays an important role in future participation. Chapter 5 uncovers the underlying causes of an athlete's emotions just prior to the contest and what one can do about them. To lend additional credence to the application of cited research studies, Chapter 12 includes portions of the author's conversations with many athletes, showing that many ideas believed to be widely held "truths" in the coaching profession often are considered myths by the athletes themselves. Dr. Mark H. Anshel is a professor in the Department of Health, Physical Education, Recreation, and Safety at Middle Tennessee State University, where he teaches graduate and undergraduate courses in sport and exercise psychology, and graduate courses in research methods. His extensive experience as a practitioner makes him unique among highly published academics. Dr. Anshel combines his experience as a teacher and researcher with more than 20 years experience as a sport psychologist, counseling male and female athletes at the amateur, university, Olympic, and professional level.

Easy to apply to business and family

Most of this book can be easily applied to business and even family rearing. This treasure trove contains sensible approaches, tools, and tips to enhance skills of anyone working with people. I highly recommend that it become required reading for coaches at every level, and to supervisors and managers in any industry. This book is very good. It's a little verbos but the information provided is useful. There are a lot of specific examples of different aspects of sports and exercise physiology as well as identifying addiction and dependency.
